Meet Kiara
A registered clinical counsellor, RCC #23037, a good-standing member of BCACC, the founder of Soulign, and a clinical counsellor passionate about guiding children, youth, and young adults (ages 12–30) toward alignment with their mental health and well-being.

Soulign was born from my belief that mental health and soulful living go hand in hand. To me, therapy isn’t just about coping—it’s about aligning with your values, protecting your peace, and evolving into your fullest self.
Background
My academic background gave me a strong foundation in understanding human behaviour, emotional development, and therapeutic practices.
Throughout my graduate training, I focused on integrating evidence-based approaches—such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)—with creative and holistic methods like Art and Play Therapy.
This combination allows me to bring both structure and flexibility into my work, ensuring that each client receives support that is personalized, practical, and meaningful.
Education
2022-2025
Masters in Counselling Psychotherapy
Yorkville University
I hold an Honours Master of Counselling from Yorkville University, with over 400 hours of direct client work and supervision. My training equips me to support mental health and well-being using evidence-based approaches, guiding individuals and families through life’s challenges with compassion, practical strategies, and personalized care
2018-2022
B.A. Psychology
University of Victoria
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Victoria, where I gained a strong foundation in understanding human behaviour, emotions, and mental health. This training helps me bring insight, empathy, and evidence-based strategies to my counselling practice.
Modalities
Creative Arts Therapy
This modality uses artistic expression, such as drawing, music, movement, and drama, as a way to explore and process emotions. Creative Arts Therapy can help you express thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to verbalize, providing a non-verbal outlet for self-discovery, healing, and emotional expression.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
This evidence-based approach helps you develop psychological flexibility, allowing you to accept difficult emotions and thoughts while committing to actions aligned with your values. ACT encourages mindfulness, self-compassion, and living authentically.
Acceptance Commitment Therapy
A blend of mindfulness techniques and cognitive behavioural therapy, MBCBT helps you manage stress, reduce anxiety, and gain greater self-awareness. It focuses on staying present in the moment and understanding the patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. I help clients identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge them with evidence-based tools, and replace them with healthier, more supportive perspectives. CBT is practical, structured, and goal-oriented—ideal for anxiety, low mood, self-esteem concerns, and stress management.
Dilaectical Behaviour Therapy
DBT teaches skills to regulate emotions, reduce distress, and improve relationships. I guide clients through four core skill areas: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. DBT is especially supportive for clients who struggle with big emotions, impulsivity, or feeling overwhelmed, offering strategies that can be used both in and between sessions.
